Meet the team – Rodmell House.
Born and raised in New York City, Daphne completed a degree in Communications and Journalism from St. Louis University in Madrid, where she has been living for the past seven years. Certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), she has taught in-company language courses in a wide range of fields, including healthcare, engineering and clinical research. She is also specialized in translating, writing and editing technical documents as well as content for webs, blogs and social media.
After graduating with a degree in Law from Complutense University in Madrid, James moved on to start a career in international logistics. Ever since, he has been dedicated to international trade, transport and export. Following his work in the logistics department at Wincor Nixdorf, a multinational corporation, James returned to school to pursue a master’s in the same field. In addition to being Rodmell House’s business manager, James is also a TEFL-certified English language instructor and social media marketer for various clients.
Laura also graduated with a degree in Law from Complutense University in Madrid, although her passion for everything “English” redirected her professional ambitions. Laura has worked in sales for the Spanish engineering and construction company, Dragados; and has managed customer service training programs for Madrid-based lifestyle clients. Also a TEFL-certified English language instructor, Laura is currently developing study abroad programs in both the United Kingdom and Spain.
Shaheen has more than a decade of experience in journalism and communications. She started her career as a business reporter at The Plain Dealer, a major daily newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio, where she covered technology, entrepreneurship and real estate. She holds a BA in journalism from Ohio State University. After completing her MBA at the IE Business School in Madrid, she has worked as a journalist and communications consultant. In addition to her work at Rodmell House, she contributes reports on the Spanish commercial real estate sector to The Wall Street Journal. She is a native English speaker and also fluent in Spanish.
Born in Taiwan and living in Madrid for the last eight years, Edison completed a degree in International Relations and Spanish Language & Literature from St. Louis University. His knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, English, Portuguese and Spanish has led him to work as a simultaneous translator for the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Japanese language consultant for Google Glass and Chinese professor at university level. Edison also holds a certificate in teaching Chinese to Spanish speakers from the Autónoma University of Madrid.
Kyle holds a bachelor´s degree in Economics from St. Joseph’s College New York and a master‘s degree in Marketing from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He has worked as a market research analyst and is currently a reporter and contributor for the British trade magazine Global Corporate Venturing. Furthermore, Kyle specializes in translating scientific, legal, financial, marketing and advertising texts from Spanish to English. In the past, he also worked as a language consultant for private and public institutions, such as Acciona, Telefónica, Spain´s Ministry of Public Works and Spain´s Revenue Agency (Agencia Tributaria), among others.
Patricia de Brito
Born and raised in France by Portuguese parents, Patricia is bilingual in Portuguese and French, and is also competent in Spanish and English. Patricia completed a degree in Psychology from Universidade do Minho in Portugal, as well as several courses in education management in both Portugal and Spain. She has ample experience in online education management and specializes in editing, writing and translating all types of documents in French and Portuguese.
Arabdha holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science as well as a master’s degree In Management from IE Business School. Her career has been multifaceted – Information Technology professional, social media strategist, marketer, entrepreneur, writer, planner and artist. She uses this versatility to handle complex problems and come up with creative solutions. Her areas of expertise are: Marketing, Creative Thinking, Social Media, Product Design, Advertising, Startups, Business Development, Ideation, Writing, Communication, and Entrepreneurship.
Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in Translation from Ghent University, Belgium. Her native language is Dutch and she fluently speaks English, French and Spanish. During her senior year, she spent a semester in Valencia and interned as a translator in Paris. She finished her studies in June 2014 and decided to move to Madrid in September. Here she has worked in Customer Relations Management and Marketing at the LAE Madrid language school. She has also been giving private lessons in Dutch, English and French. She enjoys working in an international environment.
After graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts from CEU-San Pablo University, where he is currently a teaching assistant, Edu completed a master’s in Hispanic Medieval Studies from Autónoma University and a second master’s in teaching from Francisco de Vitoria University in Madrid, during which he received a grant to study at Cambridge University in England. A professional Spanish proofreader and editor, Edu is also fluent in German and has published several works for the German publishing house, Grin Verlag.
After spending twenty years in Hong Kong writing music for Chinese Theatre and TV Advertising, Hugh returned to the UK and now lives and works in the lovely city of Bath. He toured extensively with the English Teaching Theatre and his years in the music industry as a musician/composer have produced many awards. One of his shows enjoyed a successful run in London’s West End. Apart from music, Hugh is a trained counsellor and also the creator of intricate digital designs for ceramics and fabric.
After completing a degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communications and a masters in Communications and Event Planning, Enrique worked as a journalist for several organizations, including Prisa media group. He also worked as an assistant Spanish and Italian professor in London for two years, and currently lives in his hometown, Madrid, writing for British magazine, Monocle, and Scholastics Magazine (Mary Glasgow). Certified in teaching Spanish to foreigners (ELE Accreditation), Enrique is fluent in English, Italian and LSE (Spanish Sign Language).
